21st Feb - Ulster League Naomh Séamas 1.10 Rockcorry 0.10
Aldergrove chalked up their second win in the Ulster League with victory over Monaghan side Rockcorry.
The home side started in a very impressive manner and were 4 points up in the first 5 minutes. Niall McCreanor pointing in the 1st minute, Fergal Burke sent a free over in the 3rd minute and Brian McQuillan scoring 2 points from play. At this stage it looked like the home team would run riot - but credit to Rockcorry they started to win the ball in midfield and restricted the quality of ball into the Aldergrove forwards. Rockcorry opened their account in the 14th minute with their full forward pointing twice in the space of a minute to half the deficit. Aldergrove found their feet again towards the break and points by McQuillan, Burke (free) James Henry (free) and Conor Mahoney gave the Antrim men a 0.8 to 0.2 half time lead.
Aldergrove were once again quick off the mark after the break and Chris O'Kane sent over a fine score from play. Rockcorry began to win most of the breaking ball around the midfield and pointed from two frees on 35 and 36 minutes.Aldergrove centre half back Dan Feeney capped a fine run by sending the ball over from 25 metres - an inspirational score at a time when the visitors were dominating. Rockcorry again came back at the home team and added 5 points in succession. The game though was effectively decided in the dying minutes when Aldergrove sub Ryan Gorman clipped the ball over the Rockcorry goalkeeper to score the games' only goal. Rockcorry added two more score from frees - but Aldergrove were not to be denied victory.
Aldergrove now head to Tyrone next Sunday to take on Urney.
