U12s v Aghagallon 21/5/10

The Under 12s continued their recent run of good form with two fine displays from the two teams against St Mary''s Aghagalon on Friday night. In the team 1 game the Aldergrove side were dominant from start to finish in an excellent team display. Great pass and move football in the first half reuslted in a series of scores for Aldergrove from CJ McKenna, Mathhew McGeady and later well worked moves bringing further scores from Odhran McKenna and Aindriu McCann. The St Mary''s front line were contained to just 3 scores in each half as the Aldergrove back line got the better of thier markers and worked the ball well into the forward lines. Jude McPeake and Malachy Doherty were first to almost every ball played into them and were helped in the second half by battling performances from Daniel Bell and Callum Quinn. Team 1: C QUinn, M Doherty, J McPeake, D Bell, CJ McKenna, O McKenna, A McCann, M McGeady, J Owens, B Burns. In the team 2 match the ALdergrove side again played to thier strengths with an enegertic display of quick moving and direct football in a fantastic all round team performance. With the solid defensive work of Conor McGrath and Gavin Gorman supplying the forward line with some exceelent first time balls early on, a combination of good team play and accurate shhoting resulted in the young Aldergrove side race into a 6 point lead by the break. In the sceond half a re-organized side upped their game to go further ahead with superb interplay between Ronan Wilkinson, Patrick Hethrington and Casement Park bound Anthony Brown finsihing with style. Credit must go the team for not letting up on thier efforts until the very last whistle as the team continued to work hard in all areas of the pitch to provide further scores for Stephen Johnston and young Brown who ran out top scorer with 3-5 within 30 minutes( let''s hope he does it on Sunday! Team 2 in full: C Mooney, G Gorman, C Dwyer, C McGrath, A Brown, D Morelli, R Wilkinson, P Hetherington, P McAllister, F Hanna, M Pollock.

U12s v Glenavy 14/05/10

The Under 12s continued their fine start to the season on Friday night with two fine performances against local rivals Glenavy in the GO Games League. ALthough the scores are not kept in these games it was quite clear that both team 1 and team 2 outscored their opponents over the 30 minutes. In the team 1 match a hard working team performance combined with great skill and flair in the forward line allowed Aldergrove race into a comfortable half time lead. With the reliable duo of Malachy Doherty and Jude McPeake leading by example at the back the platfrom was set for some fantastic forward play between the deadly combination of Matthew McGeady and Bobby Burns, who linked up brilliantly with the Mc Kenna twins racing forward from midfield. The second half continued in much the same manner with Callum Quinn marshalling the Glenavy full forward line excellently to supply quality balls for Jake OWens and CJ Mc Kenna to add to their points tally with a series of well taken scores. In the team 2 game a talented Glenavy side battled well against the young Aldergrove side in a good natured and committed game from both sides. Aldergorve''s dominance came however from some excellent pass and move football throughout the team, who focused on retaining possession long enough to set up the prolific Callum McGaharn, Ronan Wilkinson and Patrick Hetherington for a number of superb scores. The forward line availed of a superb show of midfield play by Conor Mc Grath to finsih off a number of quick attacking moves in style. Special mention must also go to goalkeeper Conor Mooney who kept his side in the game with a number of top quality saves. Team list: Team 1, C Quinn,D Bell, M Doherty, J McPeake, D Mc Veigh, C McKenna, O McKenna, J Owens, A McCann, M McGeady, B Burns, A Brown. Team 2: C Mooney, G Gorman, C Dwyer, R Wilkinson, J Brymner, C McGrath, C Hannan, P Hetherington, B McGuinness, D Morelli, C Mc Gaharan, F Hanna, D Lyons.
